I bought some beautiful Donegal tweed online, it is made from fine wool, is about 1.5 metres in length, so can be folded up small but is warm at the same time.
Over the last couple of years I have made quite a few items on which I have sewed individual letters to make slogans. I made my mum a picture with all her favourite things written across it, a t shirt for Simon and now this blanket. It takes a long time to cut out all of the letters, is very fiddly, but it is worth it because people really appriciate the time you have taken and the slogans make me smile.
"We love the man lying under this blanket", is the slogan that I decided to write on the blanket. And here is how I did it:
1. Draw or trace the letters that you want to use in your slogan.
2. Write onto the letters the number that you require, remember to write these inside the letter themselves. Then pin the letters onto fabric. In my case, I used a traditional Liberty fabric in blue.
3. Cut out each letter.
4. Pin the letters onto the blanket fabric.
5. Sew each letter on.
6. We love the man lying under this blanket.
That's it. Easy but time consuming. Good luck!
